Axial spherical roller bearings are self-aligning, single-row roller bearings. They are made of a solid shaft and housing washers that have asymmetrical barrel rollers with cages. The cage contains the roller and the cage assembly with its shaft locating washer. The bearings can be removed and dismantled. The parts of the bearings can be assembled separately.

Axial spherical roller bearings can also support heavy axial loads even at relatively high speeds. Since raceways today have an angle in relation to the bearing access, the bearings are valuable tools to support radial loads.
