Rod end

Rod end
SKF A rod end typically consists of an eye-shaped head with an integral shank which forms a housing for a standard circular plain bearing. As per traditional rule, rod ends are available for left and right-handed use, with female (internal) and male (external) threads to ISO965/1:1980.

Where rod ends are needed for specific applications, such as those attached to a piston rod or the base of a hydraulic cylinder, these are available with a slotted shank and compressible threaded section or with a 'welding shank', i.e. a shank suitable for welding to another component.

SKF rod ends, which often require maintenance, are available as standard with the sliding contact surface combinations steel-on-steel and steel-on-bronze. Both of these types of rod ends require regular re-lubrication.
