As the film is extruded from the die, it comes in contact with water to quench the film. In contrast, if the film is cooled very slowly, the heated film is susceptible to stretching and tearing. This compromises the quality of the film and integrity of the line. If these either of these problems arise, these disruptions become very costly. By cooling the film quickly with water, these issues are averted, maximizing production time and increasing production capacity.
