The progressive starter's function is to gradually feed air with a controlled flow into the circuit. The unit is available in two versions with solenoid or pneumatic actuation. The valves open up with the control signals to slowly guide the controlled air from flow regulator towards the downstream circuit. The valve enables to open the main inlet duct connecting in the APR, when the downstream circuit pressure reaches 50%-60% of the upstream pressure. A built-in flow regulator is used to adjust elapse time between the valve's starting and opening.
The air flow in the pipe can be cut off through operation of the control valve which closes the valve to quickly relieve the downstream circuit. The progressive starter also serves as an actuator positioner which guards the system against any sudden risk from kickback during operation.
