Wastewater treatment processes rely heavily on the dewatering and thickening of sewage sludge. 25 million liters of sewage sludge per hour is processed throughout the world using Flottweg C series decanters, which is equivalent to the volume of nearly 165,000 bathtubs each hour. Every year, quality and efficiency requirements at sewage treatment plants increase and are affected by cost increases in energy and disposal. Decanter centrifuges are now a state-of-the-art method for dewatering and thickening incoming sludge and Flottweg has created the C series decanters to meet this demand. The largest of the C machines is the C7E, which raises dry substance proportion in the sludge and hence reduces its weight and volume due to water loss. This means operators will have less sludge to recycle, dispose of or burn.
