Type 2 surge arrester - PSM series
PSM series are devices that are engineered to provide superior service in various applications. The unit is Type 2, Class II device, geared to discharge transient overvoltages in distribution panels. The device is compliant with IEC-61643-1/DIN rail monobloc criteria. It is installed in supply distribution panels to provide secondary layer of protection, typically in applications already fit with Type 1 safety devices for second stage safety. It is also conducive to use as first stage protection device in applications that are not in the line of direct impact and not already fit with lightening protection devices externally. Commercial and residential applications form the bulk of such applications.
The device has an exceptionally high ability to discharge overvoltage, displaying capacity of 8/20 μs waveform. It is available with maximum powers of 20kA/30kA/40kA. It is mounted on a chassis that can be reversed to enable cable to enter from up or down. Working life parameters are indicated via remote/visually. Voltage capacities are 120/208V-230/400V-277/480V-690V.
They are exclusively suited for use in TNS, TNC, TT, IT earthing units, photovoltaic PV applications, confirming to EN-50539-11.
