DC/AC inverter for railway applications - BORDLINE®
The BORDLINE-Compact Converters are main propulsion converters and they have an integrated auxiliary supply. All power electronics which are found on a vehicle are integrated into one product, yielding an extremely compact design with one interface to the vehicle. ABB is a world market leader for industrial drives and as such is concerned about standardization. The AC 800PEC control platform is used for compact converters. Standard Power Electronic Building Blocks (PEBB) are used to build the power part. These are based on well-proven IGBT technology and have been adapted to applications relating to railways.
The BORDLINE-Compact Converters can be used in AC grid voltage applications (16 kV / 16.7 Hz or 25 kV / 50 Hz) and DC grid voltage applications (600/750 VDV, 1.5 kVDC and 3 kVDC).
