Transformer head contains both the cores and secondary windings. Full insulation is obtained trough the use of SF6 gas instead of using paper and oil.
The dielectric quality is no longer influenced by ong and complex treatments or delicate checks.
There is no need for partial discharge measurements since the outer porcelain or polymeric
envelope is the only piece of solid insulation. There is no chance of internal discharge because
of insulation coordination with gaseous dielectric medium.
The device has a preset breakage that is designed to shield the CT from over-pressure.
Internal insulation cab be monitored trough the use of a pressure-gauge fitted with an alarm
and/or trip contacts should the gas pressure rise or drop.
