Projected capacitive touch screen - CTS

Clicktouch is the market leader in the capacitive world and, having investigated this innovative technique for over 10 years, designed the very first capacitive touchscreen in 2003. A special sensor foil is included in the Capacitive touchscreen which is mounted at the back of a protected overlay (polycarbonate, PMMA, glass). This contrasts with other techniques where the sensor is on the side (such as infrared, resistive and surfaceware).

The robust construction and hygienic qualities ensure the capacitive touchscreen excels others and is suitable for numerous applications, including kitchen and medical applications. The absence of edges prevents penetration by dirt and fat, and the touch screen can be cleaned with chemical products. Analog and digital projected capacitive touchscreens up to 19 inch are available.

Projected capacitive touch screen

Tastitalia, with a 30 years long experience in the field of Human Machine Interfaces, has broadened its range of products including the Projected Capacitive Touch Panels, better known with the acronyms PCT or P-CAP.
Using the same capacitive sensor, we can provide the cover lens customization, like dimensions and graphic layout, thus giving an added value to the final product.
All processes are carried out inside Tastitalias facility.

Typical PCT layout
Tastitalia Standards on PCTs are full solutions like the following items:
1. Cover Lens
Glass, PMMA, PC, PET can be applied through Tastitalias Laminating process.
2. Sensor Layer
ITO films or glass
3. IC controllers
supplied by Tastitalia, they are available for chip on board (3.1) or chip on flex (3.2).
4. LCM Integration with PCT can be done internally by Tastitalias bonding solutions.

Some advantages of Tastitalias capacitive solutions
Auto calibration and compensation for environmental variations
Big area rejection (palm rejection)
Humidity managing (small wet areas, e.g. warm finger on cold sensor)
Working with thin gloves
Support multi fingers and gesture
Tested firmware
Support capacitive keys outside the V.A.
Long lifetime
Surface treatments like anti glare and anti fingerprint
Simple model, assembly / installation

Capacitive touch screen

Capacitive touch screens are becoming popular as they are user-friendly devices, which everyone can easily interact with.
A Capacitive touch screen is a tactile display, made up of a glass panel and/or a plastic panel put over a capacitive layer with static charge, which allows users to interact directly with the graphic interface of the OS by simply touching it with fingers, therefore the use of other input devices turns to be useless.
This new technology replaces the mouse or other peripheral devices and therefore it promotes a more direct contact between man and machine.
The application areas are: medical industry, information terminals, retail and restaurant systems, appliances, consumer electronics, financial applications, telecommunications, automotive industry, security systems, fitness industry, agriculture and many others.
The advantages of capacitive TS are: durability, optical clarity up to 90%, resistance to dirt, grease and moisture, excellent tactile feedback, easy to clean, very light finger touch for activation, fast response time. They are often used together with membrane switches enabling a very easy interaction with the device.
