Reed sensor actuation permanent magnet
A Reed Switch is going to need a permanent magnet or a magnetic field for sure, when there is a need to activate the switch. So it is commonly called a magnetic reed switch. Permanent magnets are made available in different magnetic materials and sizes. There also are cylindrical, rectangular, disk or ring form shape of magnets. The reed sensor/switch and magnet interaction will depend upon the magnet's mounting position. Also influencing this are the environment and presence of another magnetic field. The magnet should be mounted on the application's moving part. Tuning of the magnet and reed switch will improve the functioning of the system.
