This type of oil sensor can be utilized to identify corrosion at a very early stage in a laboriously loaded industrial gearboxes through the oil particles. The waste particles which can signify error can be detected in the oil for a few months in advance through lubricant monitoring. This will aid in avoiding errors and stoppage. The oil sensor is fixed in an ancillary flow of the recirculating lubrication system in the gearbox before the filter or in an isolated circuit. The oil sensor is also featured with a categorization of the particles based on size, differentiation of the particles into metals (iron/non-iron), and a potential assimilation in an online monitoring system for linking of oil particle and vibration data.
