The Sandvik PE100-1300/1.5x20 bucket-wheel excavator is created for continuous stripping overburden in mining. It iss suited for small to medium operations with its 150-10000 m3/h (200-13000 y3/h) loose material capacity, and up to 20 MPa compressive strength of mining formation. The PE100-1300/1.5x20 provides wide automation options and a simple user-interface for convenience and efficiency. The machine is widely used for lignite mining, material handling, as well as heap leaching processes. It employs a special type with counterweight boom to minimize luffing in cylinder forces. It is equipped with a twin-crawler that helps steering. It has a nominal capacity of 5000 m3/h, a bucket capacity of 1300 l, and a block height of 20 m (66 ft).
