2-phase separator / for liquids / for solids
The Flottweg clarifier offers a two-phase separation for solids and liquids. The setup of the separators allows for highly-efficient clarification. The product to be clarified is taken through a stationary in-feed pipe into the interior of a bowl. There, the distributor gently accelerates it until it runs at the full speed of rotation. The bowl also features a disc pack which causes the stream from the product to be divided into multiple thin layers, thus creating a large surface area. It is within the disc pack that the solids and liquids are separated. The solids are collected at the edge of the bowl because of the high centrifugal force after the separation process. As for the solids, these are periodically rejected at the full speed of rotation by a hydraulic system in the base of the bowl. The liquid is discharged under pressure, after it is clarified and sent to an impeller.
